The Arts

The Nevada Arts Council provides programs throughout the state to assist artists and bring art to schools and libraries. The council provides for grants, traveling exhibits of artwork and the governor’s arts awards program. (www.dmla.clan.lib.nv.us)

The Great Basin Art Gallery showcases the work of Nevada painters, photographers and sculptors in a former stagecoach station behind the Supreme Court Building. The gallery features, “one of the most unique collections of Native American photographs in the world.” and represents the finest artists in the region. (www.greatbasingallery.com)

The Brewery Arts Center is a 28 year old regional performance arts and cultural center. The facility provides a Black Box Theater, a pottery studio, classrooms, offices, a fine arts gallery, Artisans’ gift shop, an 1864 restored Grand Ballroom, and a performance hall accommodating 300 patrons. The Arts Center also created a children’s theater program to educate children in the theater arts and perform plays each season. The Western Nevada Community College presents musical theater through their Western Nevada Musical Theater Company and The Theater Coalition works to foster arts in education and presents drama, live music and a variety of special events at various venues around Nevada.
