Communities
Carson City’s residential areas surround the downtown in every direction and are made up of a variety of architectural styles dating from the early 19th century to the present. The majority of residences are single family homes with many ranch style houses. The city is not specifically split into communities as in many other cities, but rather areas are referred to as North Carson, Northeast Carson, etc. The consistency of style and price in the residential areas makes Carson City uniquely one large community. Residents consider the city to be one neighborhood and have not given names to the areas where people live and work. There are some newer suburbs on the outskirts of the city but even these are not referred to as individual communities or neighborhoods.
